All,
Here is a brief overview of what we came up with the other day regarding the standard categories. The idea was that all numbered items would represent a graded area under each broad category. The lettered sub-bullets are key considerations for assessing the grade of the numbered category.
Professionalism:
1.) Appearance 2.) Attitude towards EMS 3.) Self-initiated Study 4.) Acceptance of Feedback/Self-critiques 5.) Time Management 6.) Safety a. PPE b. Biohazard c. Scene d. Station e. Health and Wellness
Communication:
7.) Interpersonal a. Patient-Provider b. Provider-Public c. Co-worker Interaction 8.) Operational a. Radio Report b. Facility Interaction 9.) Documentation a. ePCR b. Fire RMS c. Patient Tracker b. e-Forms e. Exposure Reports
Operations:
10.) Communications Equipment 11.) Area Familiarity a. Geography b. Hospital Capabilities 12.) Crew Resource Management 13.) Non-diagnostic Equipment
Patient Assessment:
14.) History Taking 15.) Physical Assessment 16.) Diagnostic Equipment 17.) Differential Diagnosis
Decision Making:
18.) Under Stress a.) Therapeutic Interventions 19.) Non-stress
Manuals:
20.) Fairfax County EMS Manual 21.) Other Manuals (Suppression/Highway/NOVA, etc.) from and EMS Perspective
I am looking forward to seeing how this evolves in the coming weeks. Feel free to contact me (and/or anyone else involved in the first workshop) if you have any questions regarding the above.
